This week in my effort to complete the Azeroth dungeons I travelled to Wailing Caverns in The Barrens.



Lore

I find the lore behind the existance of the dungeon rather interesting! Despite all efforts by the horde the Barrens remains to be, well, barren! In an effort to revitalise the land Naralex attempts to harness the power of natural steam fissures and the Emerald Dream deep within the caverns. Unfortunately the well meaning druid tapped into a nightmare and the creatures of the Wailing Caverns began to metamorphose into deadly foes. We now join Naralex in his plight and attempt to free him from his struggles; to do so we fight against the leaders of the Fang (Lady Anaconda, Lord Pythas, Lord Serpentis and Lord Cobrahn). Once these Fanglords have been slain we may aid the Disciple of Naralex in waking Naralex from his troubled slumbers.


My experiences

As with Ragefire Chasm I completed this instance in my healing gear; there was no need for the extra dps my other kit would provide and I had enough armour to cope with the small (but plentyful) hits. Since this dungeon is such a low level instance I decided to just aggro a lot of mobs and then kill them in one go! To do this I once again used barkskin (to prevent spellcasting from being interupted) and hurricane; the numbers kept rolling in! On occasions I used bear form and swipe although this was mostly whenever hurricane was on cooldown or if there were only a couple of mobs and I couldn't justify the use of hurricane! In order to break up the tediousness I did on occasion use wrath, starfire and moonfire; how pretty!


The most disappointing aspect of this dungeon was learning that my sense of direction is even worse than suspected! After last weeks endeavour to get out of Ragefire Chasm, this week I got completely lost trying to find Lord Serpentis and Verdan the Everliving! After following the wondering paths for 20 minutes and still having no joy I admitted defeat and used a dungeon guide to locate the illusive boss!


Once I had found Lord Serpentis it was rather a quick finish, taking only ten minutes to escort the Disciple of Naralex and kill the final boss Mutanus the Devourer. In order to mock the giant murlock for those terrifying moments when I was a baby druid I hit him with my stick!

This week I had a rather disaterous time with screenshots; on first starting the instance I was too busy taking screenshots to notice that I was slowly dying (the walk back in spirit form was rather humiliating) and on finishing the instance I was too relieved to have found the way out that I completely forgot to take any screenshots at all! I do plan to get better at it in the future however: I will remember to heal more and have even brought a [url=http://thottbot.com/i13897]White Traditional Hanbok[/url] to celebrate my victories. Starting next week (provided I'm not so forgetful) I shall be taking screenshots in my beautiful dress over the dead bodies of the bosses! Not that I enjoy gloating or anything...

Within this time I managed to kill every single mob (discounting some of the oozes since they respawn), got lost several times, sorted out my bags and died once too!
